The Journey of Grand Master Meng

1. Early Foundations & Lineage

HONG KONG & NEW YORK

Lineage Integration & Masters +

Grand Master Meng built his comprehensive structural base through direct immersion under iconic historical lineages.

  • Hong Kong: Began his journey under his first teacher, Sifu Lee Hoi Sung.
  • New York: Became a disciple and indoor student of Grand Master Moy Yat (the last closed-door disciple of Grand Master Ip Man).
  • Ip Clan Training: Undertook extensive training directly with Grand Master Ip Ching and other senior masters of the Ip family.

2. The Mandate & The Ving Tsun Museum

DAYTON, OHIO

The Wedding Eve Charter +

A sacred legacy directive given directly by Grand Master Moy Yat to preserve ancestral lines.

On the morning of Grand Master Meng's wedding day, Grand Master Moy Yat requested to visit Meng's school during the early morning hours. It was here that Moy Yat formally charged Sifu Meng with a lifelong mission: to create a Ving Tsun museum.

VTM Infrastructure & Historical Gathering +

Established as a non-political, inclusive platform to trace lineages back to their authentic source.

The Ving Tsun Museum (VTM) was founded as a strictly non-political, inclusive platform with the core purpose of bringing all Wing Chun families together and tracing lineages back to their historical roots.
The Opening Ceremony Attendees

A monumental, unified gathering of the world's top Wing Chun authorities, including:

  • Grandmaster Yip Chun (Elder son of Ip Man)
  • Grandmaster Yip Ching (Younger son of Ip Man)
  • Grandmaster Moy Yat
  • Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin
  • Grandmaster Hawkins Cheung
  • Grandmaster Mak Po
  • Grandmaster Moy Bing Wah

3. The Research Era: Investigating the Roots

LINEAGE BRIDGES & ACADEMIC MISSIONS

Primary Research Pillars +

Driven by its non-political mission, the Ving Tsun Museum launched deep historical and investigative research operations.

This open approach encouraged previously lost systems to make contact with the VTM, sharing publicly unknown history and bridges between lineages.
Core Operations
  • The Three Treasures of Shaolin: Investigative trips targeted the historical roots of Chan philosophy, internal/external qigong, and extensive combat science.
  • Corroborating Evidence: Collaborated with findings from historical societies (such as those that rebuilt the Linquan Yuan Temple) by cross-referencing peripheral martial systems across the Fujian Province.
  • Historical Documentation: Analyzed ancient written texts, such as the Nation of Documents, to study historical military test candidates, scholars, Sifus, and warriors from the Putian area.
  • Living Martial Arts: Examined and actively practiced fully developed kung fu systems still surviving in the Putian region.

Notable Bridging Sources & Lineages +

Through dedicated field research missions, crucial evolutionary gaps within the community were bridged.

Essential tracking details and historical characteristics were recovered via direct collaboration with key masters:

  • Grand Master Garret Gee: Hung Fa Yi (HFY)
  • Grand Master Kenneth Lin: Hung Suen Kwok Lo / HKB
  • Grand Master Andreas Hoffmann: Chi Sim Weng Chun
  • Grand Master Jack

4. Evolution & Shaolin Recognition

2016 – 2025

The Founding of Shaolin Wing Chun (2016) +

The synthesis of decades of lineage integration, rigorous historical field research, and cultural bridges.

Synthesizing decades of lineage training, historical research, and newly recovered cultural bridges, a distinct and new entity within the martial arts community was officially established: Shaolin Wing Chun.

Dual Monastic Confirmation & Validation +

Official recognition achieved from the primary monastic authorities of both Northern and Southern Shaolin Temples.

  • 2023: Shaolin Wing Chun is officially recognized as a unique, distinct lineage by the Southern Shaolin Temple.
  • 2025: The lineage receives further official recognition as a unique system by the Northern Shaolin Temple.
